Design & Technology Vision Statement
At New Mill Schools we aim to teach Design and Technology in an inspiring, and practical way. Pupils will use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.They will develop resilience to overcome obstacles when working practically and will further develop the skill of working collaboratively.
Our children will learn to research, design, make and evaluate products against given criteria. With guidance from teachers and their peers, the children will be able to choose and use a variety of tools to design and make their chosen products.
They will also be able to understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn howto cook.They will learn where food comes from and understand the seasonality of foods.
We aim to deliver Design and Technology in a cross curricular way,which will enrich our topic work. We believe that this gives the children a real life context, as they can see a purpose and see how their designs and products are used in the wider world.
