Welcome to our Home Learning pages.

Here you will find all the information you need should the school need to close for any reason and pupils take part in remote learning while they are at home.

Our Expectations

if the school has to be closed for any reason, we expect that all children will complete:

• the daily online meeting with staff
• Maths - daily
• English - daily
• PE (some form of physical exercise) - daily
• at least one other subject - daily (with a view that they cover all subjects in a two-week cycle.)

Pupils are also expected to spend some time every day completing Hit the button, talking timestables, Spelling Shed and reading for a minimum of twenty minutes with or without an adult as they normally would during school time.

Completed work should be uploaded to Microsoft Class Teams for teachers to mark/give feedback.

Tips & Advice

Here are some tips to make your home learning experience successful and enjoyable...

 - Play is the best way for very young children to learn, so make up games, do pretending and have fun.

 - It's a good idea to take the "little and often" approach to formal home learning, don't expect your child to work for long periods of time (they will hate it and so will you!).

 - Keep things light-hearted and fun. If things are getting tense leave it for a while and come back to it later.

 - Praise and reward your child if they have had a good go at it but don't expect perfection. It's fine to make a few mistakes.

 - Allow your child to choose which activity they complete but try to make sure they do a little bit of everything as time goes on.

 - Reading is a fantastic way to learn about new things and should be done daily. Fiction and non-fiction books can be used to provide inspiration for further learning - story/poetry/letter/report writing. 

 - If appropriate, encourage your child to use Talking Timestables or Spelling Shed daily (it only takes 10 minutes) to improve their times tables/spelling skills.

 - If your child has a particular interest you can use it to create and inspire your own project. Look for the opportunities to write about it. Find the maths or science within it.
